Frequently Asked Questions
We generally have studies running from children from 6 months up to 12 years of age, but we add new studies all the time! By filling out this interest form, we will be able to contact you about studies your child may eligible for!
Appointments should usually last around 30-45 minutes long. Studies usually involve your child playing a fun and short game, watching a short video, or having a conversation with a researcher. After completing our study, you and your child can choose from some prizes, such as lab merch, stuffed animals, a small gift card, and books! We offer studies that can be done remotely (via Zoom) or in person, at our lab at UC San Diego's campus.
For our in-person studies, we would like to offer free parking and free child care for any other children present during the study session.
Our lab is set up to encourage children and their parents to feel comfortable and enjoy their experience with us.
For our studies that are in-lab, here are directions to our lab, which is on UC San Diego's campus. For studies that are held remotely, you will be sent any links for the study when you sign up.
We understand that different situations arise and life just happens! Please feel free to contact the lab at lillab@ucsd.edu to cancel or reschedule as needed. If you have scheduled an appointment with us through Calendly, you may also use the provided link in the Calendly invitation to reschdule or cancel as needed.
Thank you for signing up to participate in our studies! After you fill out the form, a research team member will reach out to you about studies your child may be eligible for. You will also be sent more information about how to schedule a time slot to participate in studies that are most convenient for you. You can ask us to update or delete your information at any time.
Study availability is generally based on your child's age at a given time. If we have an active study that fits your child's age group, we will reach out to you via email to discuss if you would like to participate. You will always get to choose what study you would like to participate in.
